Farmington United’s Leah Hodge: Overcoming Adversity to Shine at State Final

Leah Hodge of Farmington United has encountered many obstacles throughout her gymnastics journey. From multiple injuries and sickness to the long and difficult road of recovery, these challenges led her to believe her gymnastics career should come to a close.

However, friend and teammate Elena Anzivino wouldn’t let that happen. She convinced Hodge to give it another shot heading into her junior year.

That conversation left a lasting impact on Hodge propelling her towards a remarkable achievement: clinching the Division 1 all-around title at Saturday’s State Finals. She placed 1st on bars with a 9.55, secured 2nd on vault with a 9.5, achieved 4th on beam with a 9.425 and finished 6th on floor with a 9.525.

Reflecting on her triumph, Hodge praised the team’s effort, mentioning every player had improved throughout the season.

Farmington United narrowly missed out on the top spot, finishing as the runner-up to Rockford by just two-tenths of a point.
