Team USA falls to Team WNBA

With less than a week before the Olympics, Team WNBA beat Team USA with Arike Ogunbowale claiming MVP and Caitlin Clark setting a rookie assist record.

After the matchup Head Coach of Team USA, Cheryl Reeve, said “The depth of talent that we have in the USA, there’s no one who has anything close to it.”

Reeve went on to say, “There are players on this team that are great players. Everybody knows that. There’s no suggestion whatsoever that there are players on (Team) WNBA that aren’t good enough to play on the national team … But only 12 could make it.”

This is the second consecutive year Team WNBA has claimed the victory over Team USA, leaving Breanna Stewart with “a little bit déjà vu feeling.”

BUT Team USA isn’t worried yet. After their loss against Team WNBA ahead of the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, Team USA went on to win gold for the seventh time in a row.

Olympian A-ja Wilson said, “We are not going to press the panic button right now, we needed the test.”

Team USA will take on Germany on Tuesday in London for their final exhibition match before competing in the Olympic Games on July 29th in Paris. First up, Team USA will take on France.
