The Mick McCabe Miss Basketball Finalists are Announced & Voting is Open
Earlier this week the 43rd Annual Miss Basketball Finalists were announced with the voting ballot open now! The deadline to vote is March 10th at 9:00pm.
The Finalists are…
Indya Davis from West Bloomfield High School
“Indya is a leader on and off the court just like her sister. She is involved in the community helping volunteer with multiple organizations, including our unified basketball team. On the court Indya brings a toughness and does a lot of the dirty work we need to be successful. She currently leads our team in rebounding and is second in scoring behind her sister. Indya has the ability to check all five positions on the floor which helps when determining our matchup schemes. She leads our team in double doubles and has the ability to take over a game when needed. She does this with a running clock most second halves and sitting much of the fourth quarter. She currently has a 3.7 cumulative GPA and will be attending the University of Georgia next year to further her academic and athletic career.”

Summer Davis from West Bloomfield High School
“Summer has been a leader on and off the court just like her sister. She is involved in the community helping volunteer with multiple organizations, including our unified basketball team. She is also a vocal leader on the court, pulling the best out of her teammates . She provides our team with whatever we need for that night. She leads the team in scoring, assists, steals and 3- pointers made. She hit eight 3 pointers and scored 32 points one night and then came back with 15 points and 8 assists. She does this with a running clock most second halves and sitting much of the fourth quarter. She currently has a 3.68 cumulative GPA and will be attending the University of Georgia next year to further her academic and athletic career.”

Madison Morson from Canton Salem High School
“Morson has been a joy to coach. Her teammates love her. The great thing about Morson is her work ethic. Morson has won every sprint in practice this year. She has led our team in charges taken and Blue Collar points (floor dives, rebounding, loose balls, etc). She is unselfish and loyal to her team. The biggest improvement has been her defense. She defends the top player on the other team every game. She can guard the point guard through the center and plays every position on offense. Madison had a school record 44 points against Mercy. She followed up with 40 points, 10 rebounds and nine steals against Livonia Stevenson. Morson scored 31 points against West Bloomfield in the final four. She also added 30 points and 14 rebounds against Wayne Memorial in the KLAA championship. We went 14-7 this year with zero starters returning from last year. Leadership has been one of Madison’s greatest qualities. Gary Morris Farmington Mercy Coach: “Maddie was very efficient, as she scored 44 points on only 20 field goal attempts, making 16 of those attempts. She scored in a variety of ways including 3’s, midrange jumpers off the bounce and layups while going 9-10 from the free throw line. She didn’t force a bad shot and made some nice passes to her teammates”. I’m proud of Maddie having such a great year while being denied and double teamed almost every game. Madison has over 1500 points and over 500 rebounds.”

Gabby Reynolds from Holland West Ottawa High School
“Gabby Reynolds has been dominant during her senior season and is a great representative of girl’s basketball in our state. She is the best player I have ever coached during my 43 seasons of coaching boys and girls basketball. She is certainly deserving of the Miss Basketball Award for the state of Michigan.”
—Coach Paul Chapman
Lily Zeinstra from Byron Center High School
“The stats speak volumes about Lily’s basketball talents. Lily’s basketball talent does not come close to her huge heart. On and off the court the team looks to her for guidance, laughter, and leadership. She is a player’s coach that makes her coaches and teammates better. A true passion for winning no matter her role in those wins. She jumps for any opportunities to guard the best player of any opposing team. Lily’s relentless mentality between the lines is what makes her a perfect Miss Basketball candidate. Backs against the wall… Lily has shown how to carry the weight of the world and still come out on top. Lily is someone everyone can look up to. “
