West Iron’s Danica Shamion Adds 1,000 Point Club to List of Accomplishments

Danica Shamion of West Iron reached a significant milestone by joining the 1,000 point club during a hard-fought loss against Norway where she scored an impressive 34 points. This achievement adds to her already stacked track & field career. 

Samion was named an All-Upper Peninsula Division 1-3 first-team selection in 2023 and set the U.P. Division 2 Finals record for both the 200-meter and 400-meter events. She placed first in the 100 and second in the high jump and was a three-time finals champion in all three sprint races.

Shamion’s talents are not confined only to the track and basketball court. She’s also earned recognition as part of the all-U.P. Dream Team for volleyball.

After graduation in the spring, Shamion will continue her academic and athletic career at Central Michigan University where she will compete in track.
